Gemunu commenced practice as a solicitor in 1983 .He worked for the Aboriginal Legal Service appearing in the Local and District Courts all over the north coast.
He was appointed as an Accredited Specialist In Criminal Law by the NSW Law Society in 1999 .He has a long standing relationship with the traditional custodians of the area in which he works and has an extensive knowledge of the local communities and the disadvantages some members of these communities face when encountering the criminal justice system .
He was admitted to the Bar in 2000 and practices in criminal law in the District and Local Courts from Sydney to Tweed Heads.
He accepts matters directly from the public in most Local Court and District Court sentence appeals .
